December 2017: Maiko Kohana (Masuume Okiya) of Gion Kobu holding a kusudama-ball.
The kusudama was given to her during an event called Okotōsan, which takes place every 30th of December in Gion Kobu and Miyagawacho.
The Maiko and Geiko that are still around this time of year go around and visit ochaya and say “Okotōsandosu“ at the entrance, and are then given a kusudama containing a gift inside of it.
